As Labour delegates attend the first day of the 2007 Labour Party conference to hear their new PM Gordon Brown set out his vision for the party post Blair, antiwar protesters gather close by to continue their long-running protest against the wars in the Middle-East. They march out of the Lower Gardens and through the backstreets of Bournemouth arriving at the BIC (Bournemouth International Conference Centre) under a heavy police presence. They then carry out a sit down protest in the road directly outside the conference centre. At least three are arrested at the protest and taken away by police including long-time activist Maya Evans who was the first protester to be arrested under the new SOCPA conditions in London for reading the names of British service personel killed in Iraq. Bournemouth, September 2007.
