G20 Bank of England RBS Riot protest, City of London. London, UK. 01/04/2009.
On the day before G20 (G8 plus 12 satellite dependant) leaders assemble in London to manage the G8 nations post crisis financial affairs, opponents gather at the Bank of England to object. A large police operation unfolds with the intention of qualifying a violent encounter with protesters. All exits and entrances to the junction are closed and police begin to compress the crowd together. Throughout, police refuse to allow people to leave. A short time later officers withdraw just passed RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) sacrificing it for political reasons. The bank is then attacked. As the day drags on police continue to compress the crowd causing a number of serious injuries. Bank of England. London, UK. 01/04/2009
