• What is the Terence Bunch Picture Library?

This is the picture library of Terence Bunch and contains images of some of the most important campaigns, demonstrations and protests that have taken place over the last ten years in the United Kingdom. In order to download high resolution files for use, you will need to contact the library administrator for a username and password. The images are licenced for commercial use but we also allow images to be downloaded for charities and publications running as not for profits.

  • How many images can I find here?

In total, there are over 15,000 images in the entire collection. A small section of the most important images are available for download. If you require anything that you cannot find here, please contact the library administrator.

  • Are they for sale?

The images contained within the library are for commercial sale to newspapers, magazines, academic publication, online broadcast (websites) and other use. We charge for the use of the images but the price depends on size of your circulation, whether you are a profit organisation and your charitable status.

  • Are they expensive?

Images licenced for use commercially are priced according to industry guidelines. Images for academic institutions, charities, not for profit and personal use in print and online use are discounted according to circulation.

  • Do you sell Royalty Free images?

We do not licence images under the Royalty Free scheme. While many of the images here have already been published in low resolution format under the Copy-Left schema, we do not permit Copy-Left use for high resolution files.

  • What is copyright?

Copyright refers to the protection of intellectual property and in this case refers to the rights of the photographer to assert ownership over the work contained within this library. It is legally defined in the UK under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 UK (CPDA). Images are given this protection automatically at the moment of creation and that protection is not transferable. All images contained within this library are protected under the CDPA and it is a matter of the owners discretion whether an image is published under full copyright or some of the variations on copyright. If you wish to use an image from this library you should read the Terms and Conditions first. Publishing an image without permission of the owner is a breach of the CPDA and undermines the right of the owner to determine the images value. While we do assert full entitlements under the CPDA, we are also experienced in how to set pricing for use based on the unique circumstances of each individual publication. Please do not download, or use, any image contained within this library without first checking with the copyright owner first.

  • How do I apply for membership of the library?

You can apply for membership of this library by filling out the registration form. Please ensure you fill out all the fields.

  • What does membership entitle me to?

Membership of the library entitles you to search the collection without copyright marks defacing the images and once you find an image you are interested in, you may download the high resolution image directly to your computer.

  • How do I pay for images?

You will be placed onto the billing list and an billing account will be opened for you. Images that are confirmed to have been used or published are billed no later than 28 days after publication. If you work for a newsper or magazine you will be expected to confirm a billing administrator or department, a biling address and a billing reference number. You will be sent a pricing list in order to determine what each image will cost. This is determined by your circulation, the size the image is to be used at and the length of time the image is to be used for.

  • We have downloaded an image but it wasn't used, how do we apply for a charge-back?

We do not bill you unless we can confirm an image has been published or used.

  • Are these images available anywhere else?

    No.

  • How big are the images, what are the file sizes?

The images are mostly between 12MB and 36MB in size and will download to our computer in around 4 seconds on a cable broadband connection. The images will take longer on slower connections.

  • I want to use an image for personal use but I can't get a membership of the library?

Please contact us with our request and we will make an individual arrangement with you?
