
The national flag of the Tamil people is flown in Parliament Square by long-time peace campaigner Maria Gallastegui. She has recently been arrested by Metropolitan Police who claim the flag is a proscribed item under the 2000 Terrorism Act. Under the act, the non-state flag of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) is proscribed. London, 03/06/2009.

The Tamils have now been in Parliament Square for over two months and continue to pressure the British government to act to bring humanitarian assistance to the forefront of the international community. Despite claims that the LTTE have been completely eradicated by the Sri Lankans, they remain proscribed under British law. London, 03/06/2009.

British government ministers arrive at Parliament for PMQs (Prime Ministers Questions). They assemble as Labour government ministers continue to resign. Earlier the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and later the Communities Secretary Hazel Blears both succumb to accusations of fraud. The government continue to fall flat under accusations which have been going on for almost two months. London, 03/06/2009.

Tim Martin continues with his hunger strike reaching day 17. He is calling for the remaining two of originally four demands to be met. He demands aid agencies and observers to be allowed into Sri Lanka and for medical provision to be made available immediately for the now displaced Tamil people. London, 03/06/2009.
